Kingdom Hotel Hanoi

The room was quiet, which was a real plus in such a busy area. It was clean, roomy, and everything worked. Check-in was quick and easy, and the reception staff were warm and welcoming. I also left my airpads in the room, and reception quickly shipped them to my address abroad. Fantastic service. This is a top hotel to stay at in Hanoi, and the team is doing a great job. We've stayed here twice, and both visits were great. The hotel sits in the centre of the Old Quarter, but we couldn't hear the street noise from our room. Ms Spring was especially helpful, with useful recommendations and even a hand sending a package back to our home country.

Spring, who runs the place, was a huge help with local tips and arranging tours and taxis, and she found us great deals. The hotel felt safe and clean, with staff always in the lobby. We'd happily stay again.

The staff were friendly, but I wouldn't expect a relaxing stay. For us, it was just somewhere to sleep. The Old Quarter location was handy, with restaurants, bars, and shops nearby and Hoan Kiem Lake within walking distance. The hotel and rooms seemed older than advertised. At check-in, they claimed we'd been given a bigger room than we paid for, but it was exactly the one I'd booked. The wallpaper was peeling and held up with scotch tape. There was a TV and telephone, but neither worked. The pillows were tiny and thin, too. I chose to pay at the hotel, yet my credit card was charged twice for portions of the stay before we arrived, adding conversion and transaction fees. Then, at check-in, they wouldn't let me use that same card to pay.
