Madam Moon Hotel

The staff were all so kind, especially LILY!!! I needed a repair shop for my broken luggage, and they pointed me to a good one. The hotel is near the lake and very quiet. My room had a big window, though the bathroom was a bit small. Such a nice hotel.

I booked three nights online through Hostelworld and paid a 20% deposit. At 7 AM, when I arrived, they let me leave my bags and asked me to return at 1 PM to check in. But when I came back, they said they’d had problems with Hostelworld for a “long, long time” and didn’t actually have a room for me. That left me searching the streets for another hotel over a holiday weekend, when affordable rooms in a good location were hard to find. They know about the booking system issue but do nothing to prevent overbooking. Buyer beware.

We spent two nights at madam moon guesthouse 2. After the first night, they moved our bags and put us in another room without asking. They first said the shower was broken, but when we said we’d check it and move afterwards, they admitted they had double-booked the room and given it to someone staying longer. Our luggage had already been moved, and they said they’d give us $5 back. We never got the $5, partly because we were so pissed off that we didn’t want it. We had the worst stay in hanoi. If you’re considering this place, we recommend finding somewhere else.

Great value and a clean room, with housekeeping doing a really good job. The location is convenient for restaurants, shops, and Hoan Kiem Lake, all just a few minutes’ walk away. There’s also a 24/7 convenience store right across the street. Breakfast was good, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating to our needs. Highly recommended.
