Madelise Palace Hotel & Spa

The staff, service, and location were all good. They also arrange tours from the lobby at a good price. The room was another story: it got incredibly hot, and the small AC stopped running when we left, so it stayed hot all day. There was a cockroach in the room guidebook, small ants all over the toilet, and even a few on the bed. No hand soap either, so we had to use the shower soap. The fridge barely cooled the water, even in that heat. For all the good service and convenient location, the room’s cleanliness and amenities were very poor.

The breakfast and spa services were great, and the staff were lovely. We had a fantastic stay. Being in the Old Quarter made getting around on foot easy, and many tours pick up nearby. We’d come back next time we’re in town.

The only good part was the polite staff. They offered another hotel they owned, but after seeing our room I didn’t want to risk it and booked somewhere suitable nearby instead. We were on the 7th floor, and the room was in terrible shape: stained sheets, mold in and around the AC, a poorly kept toilet, and a generally decrepit feel. We checked out right away and got no refund because staying there wasn’t worth it. I know it’s a budget hotel, but I’ve stayed in much better places in Vietnam for similar prices.

For a business trip, the location worked really well, with the Old Quarter, offices, cafés, and restaurants all close by. The room was quiet and clean, the bed was comfortable, and it felt calm enough to rest or get work done despite the busy surroundings. The staff were polite, professional, and helpful throughout, which made everything easy. Madelise Palace was good value, and I’d gladly stay again on a future work trip.
