Marina Hotel

There's a bus office across the street for trips to Sapa and other parts of Vietnam, and a 24-hour self-service laundry just opposite too. Our room and bathroom were both spacious compared with other old town hotels we've stayed in. It was clean, the sheets were white, and there was a separate seating area. We were happy with the stay.

The location was perfect, right on the old-town's main coffee streets. The rooms and beds were spacious, and the staff were friendly when we arrived and checked out. They also let us leave our luggage there for a long time before check-in and after checkout. The shower leaked all over the floor, though it wasn't a major problem. If you can, ask for a room that doesn't face the main road. The windows cut some noise, but it was incredibly loud late at night and very early in the morning, with building work, bin emptying, and horns blaring. It seemed to start very early and go on until very late. Ear plugs for rooms facing outside would help.

The staff seemed nice, but I booked a “superior room” through Expedia and was given one with no windows. The Expedia photos clearly showed windows in the room I'd chosen, and walking into a windowless room was depressing. It was only for two nights, so I managed to stay out as much as possible during the day. If you book here, call first to confirm which room they'll give you.

If you're heading to Sapa, this is convenient, with HK busline right in front. I paid CAD 42 for a superior room in Apr 2026. It had no window view, a double bed, and an elevator.
