Muong Thanh Hanoi Centre Hotel

The reception staff were kind and helpful, and seemed to know a little English. The hotel is close to the Old Quarter, so it was easy to walk or catch a ride into town. I stayed three nights. The room was pretty good, though the air conditioner remote had a dead battery. Not bad, but there’s room to improve.

After changing rooms twice because each was just as dirty as the first, the third was only barely acceptable. It still needed a proper clean, and they eventually cleaned the bathroom, which had limescale, and the sticky floor. The room I was first given had dust everywhere, stained bedding, and mold and grime in the bathroom, as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Staff were cheeky and tried to tell me it had been cleaned, although the dirt was plain to see. The hotel advertises itself as luxurious with lovely online photos, but the reality was a disaster. I’ve stayed in few worse places in Vietnam. A waste of money and nerves, and I’ll never go back. 1/10.

Breakfast was very generous and tasty, and our room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed. It was dark, though, with no view. We only stayed one night, and the main issue was the noise: music played constantly in the hallway and could be heard in the room, along with the elevator bell, which made it hard to sleep. The shower water also wasn't hot enough. Staff were very polite and brought an extra pillow when we asked. Acceptable for a night.

Everything matched what was advertised, and it was clean and good value. The location was convenient, with the main sights within walking distance, and check-in went smoothly. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. It worked perfectly for a quick trip, and I’d book here again without hesitation.
