Soho Hotel by OYO Rooms

The first day, staff came in to clean even though we hadn't put out a sign. We didn't think much of it at the time and were even pleased. Later, after we'd left the hotel and reached our next stop, we found €1,000 in cash missing from our backpacks. It had been tucked away carefully, and whoever took it had gone through the bags and searched the inside pockets. The helplessness was awful. If you stay here, bring a good padlock and don't leave your belongings behind. The hotel is well connected, but still fairly far from the main sights. It's about a 30-minute walk, through areas that aren't fully set up for pedestrians. If you've travelled around Southeast Asia, that may feel familiar. Otherwise, be ready for a bit of patience and nerve. The Wi-Fi on the second floor was also poor, cutting out repeatedly during our three-day stay.

There are no windows in the room, and the area around the hotel isn't nice. The city center isn't especially far away, but the location still didn't feel very good.

This is an interesting neighbourhood in Hoan Kiem district, away from the touristy part. The location worked well for me.

The mattress was awful, and the place was very dirty. The pillows weren't any better.
