Sq Hang Gai Hotel & Spa

I finally got to relax and feel clean again after traveling around Vietnam. They’ve only recently reopened, so everything feels new, clean, and lovely, and the bed was one of the best I’ve slept in. The buffet breakfast has lots of options, and the staff are very helpful and speak good English. I also spent a couple of hours unwinding at the small but nice rooftop pool and gym. For what I paid, it was a very fair price. This Hanoi hotel really is a hidden gem, I’d happily recommend it, 10/10.

We were on the fourth floor and didn’t have a noise problem. The bathrooms were fine, the lifts worked efficiently, and every staff member we dealt with was pleasant. I’d absolutely recommend this hotel if you want a good night’s sleep in central Hanoi. We came as a family of five with teenagers for one night. Check-in was easy, and we had a twin room and a triple room on the same floor. Both were very spacious, with incredible beds and pillows. I usually sleep badly on my first hotel night, but slept right through and felt great in the morning. It’s very central, close to Hoan Kiem lake. Since we were there on a Friday, we finished the evening at the nearby night market, where they sell clothes, toys, crafts, and street food. Breakfast had enough choice for a decent meal, including an egg station, chicken pho, mini nems, fresh fruit and juices, cereals, toast, bacon and sausage, congee, rice, noodles, and possibly some other things. The dining room was very crowded and noisy at 7am, though, and some food in the warmers wasn’t hot enough. We left after breakfast, so didn’t try the gym or pool.

The rooms and hotel were clean, tidy, and well organized, and I loved staying here with my group while traveling in Vietnam. The place seems new, though I could see several areas that need regular maintenance. The pool was nice, but the gym equipment is a little outdated. I also don’t think the resort is eco-friendly. When I asked a waitress to refill my water bottle, she rudely said, “no takeaway.” I checked with reception about a water filling station, but they only offered bottles from the fridge. They cost less than a dollar, but I think guests should have water stations so we don’t waste plastic bottles.

The room was comfortable, with good central AC and a working minibar fridge. Breakfast was a decent buffet, and this is a fairly decent four-star hotel, but it’s on a very crowded, busy street. The view from our room was lousy, just dilapidated buildings all around. The main concern was the bath: you have to climb into a high tub to shower, and there’s no railing or non-slip mat. Seniors and people with knee problems, please be careful.
