Tru by Hilton Hanoi Station

I chose Tru by Hilton Station Hanoi because I was taking a train to and back from Sapa, and the location made getting in and out of Hanoi easy. It’s convenient for train arrivals and getting around the city. The hotel feels modern and fresh, and the room was clean, comfortable, and set up efficiently for a short stay. It had what I needed without excess. Staff were welcoming and polite, and check-in and checkout were smooth. I had a really pleasant stay and would happily return.

A great Hanoi hotel, with a very convenient location and the airport bus almost right outside. The staff were friendly, and the rooms clean and stylish. I was surprised by how many good-value dishes were on the menu. The gym and laundry facilities were good too. Just great!

We used our points for an anniversary stay and mostly spent our time out exploring the streets. Room 403 was a small corner room, though it was roomier than places we’ve stayed in Japan. It felt minimal, and the lighting was dim, but we really only needed it for sleeping. The manager had arranged a nice welcome package, and everyone was friendly. Breakfast was safe to eat, though pretty mediocre. I’d come back for another short stay.

The location puts plenty of food nearby, from a $2 bowl of pho to a $6 Korean BBQ dinner. There’s construction around, which can make walking a hassle, and sometimes there’s debris about, so I’d wear a mask in some spots. Still, I’ve stayed at the Tru by Hilton in Hanoi several times and expect I’ll be back again. The staff have been attentive and supportive every time. They’re easy to communicate with in English, and even helped me with a few Vietnamese phrases. The rooms have a more modern, practical layout than traditional Hiltons, and I especially like the huge windows if you want natural light. Breakfast gets knocked in some other reviews, but I thought it was good value. There’s a different pho bowl to try each day, boiled and fried eggs, baked or steamed potatoes, a modest salad bar, toast for making a mini banh mi, and a selected range of Vietnamese drinks. It’s not the place I’d choose for a luxury getaway or staycation. But if you want easy check-in, staff who know your name, convenient access to the city, and smooth service over silk robes or marble fountains, it fits the bill.
