A&EM Art Hotel

The one good thing was the location, within walking distance of plenty of food and shopping hubs. There are much better hotels in the area, though, and I wouldn't stay again. The rooms and reception were unhygienic and mouldy. Staff knew about the smell and uncleanliness but kept booking out the rooms. Small details felt unsafe, like the shower door opening inwards, and windows stuffed with tissue paper. The pool was empty, and guests hadn't been told. Cigarette smoke could be smelled throughout the elevators, lobby and rooms. You could definitely hear all the street noise from the room, and in my experience the noise from other guests was intolerable. Some staff were pushy and overstepped boundaries. The buffet was horrible.

I didn't stay at the hotel, I went for a massage there. It was horrible. The woman massaging me spent the whole time on her phone, rubbing me with one hand while holding it in the other. She rubbed my head for 20 minutes during my 45 minute head, neck and shoulder massage. The towels used to clean me afterwards smelled unpleasant. At the end she asked for a tip, then kept harassing me to pay after I refused. She went on to harass my friend too. A horrible experience.

The massage with my girlfriend was only OK. We had to ask several times for more pressure, so it was hard to relax and enjoy it. Afterwards, staff asked for a tip. We were willing to leave a small one despite the mediocre massage, but they kept pushing for an amount nearly equal to the massage price. They continued insisting and even followed us after we'd paid. It felt uncomfortable and inappropriate, and my girlfriend felt harassed when I looked away. What should have been relaxing ended up being a negative experience.

I was doubtful at first, but I'm glad I stayed and didn't regret it. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean, and the location is strategic. Breakfast and afternoon tea are offered, though I couldn't try the afternoon tea because of work and the time I had to spend. The only thing that needs fixing is the Wi-Fi, so it can be faster. Overall, a great hotel. I'd love to stay here again.
