Ace Hotel Ben Thanh

I was stuck staying here because I had booked through a third party. At check-in I found the AC wasn't working, and after I complained at reception for four hours, a technician came to refill its gas while we were in the room. Later, when I tried to get the receptionist's attention, he ignored me and shushed me twice. Whenever I said the AC still wasn't working, he repeated that the technician said it was fine. I finally got him to come to the room, and he flat out told me it was working, even though it was only blowing air and not lowering the temperature. The way I was treated was unprofessional, unlike the other places and people we encountered in Vietnam. This kind of hotel and conduct leaves a bad impression of Vietnam.

The bed was dirty, and there was a bug on it. The walls were badly beaten up, and the toilet wouldn't flush unless you held the button down for a full minute. The sheets were VERY dirty; I was told the stains were embedded and wouldn't come out. The online pictures looked AI-redone, and the rooms were so bad that you'd be mortified when you walked in. This was 100% a scam.

Staff came into my room while I was out, even though I'd specifically told them not to. They also held my passport and wouldn't give it back until I paid 200,000 extra for 'dirty towels' used after a massage in my room. The charge was outrageous, and the whole thing felt dishonest and extremely unprofessional. Don't hand over your passport or give them your business.

The receptionists were rude and unfriendly. After we arrived and paid, they marked us as a NO SHOW on Agoda, which would have meant another charge. I contacted Agoda, but nothing came of it. Luckily, my card was locked, so they couldn't charge it. DON'T BOOK HERE.
