It's a pretty resort with an amazing spa, and nearly all the staff, even the trainees, were very competent. The location is far away, though, and the price feels high for the service. We've had better service at a 3 star hotel. There were insects around, and takeaway food left by housekeeping sat there for days without being picked up. The complimentary boat runs at set times like a bus. Given how much this 5 star hotel costs and how far away it is, it should be available on demand when requested. Breakfast didn't live up to the 5 star rating, although the pho and burger were excellent.

An Lam Retreats Saigon River was a wonderful stay, with care and warmth from the moment we arrived. Every staff member seemed to go the extra mile because they truly wanted to, and that kind of hospitality feels like part of the place's culture. The restaurant team were knowledgeable, attentive, and gracious. Meals felt calm and considered, and service was smooth without getting in the way. The boat transfers were a highlight too. Our driver was professional and welcoming, making each trip feel relaxed and special. It's a rare mix of luxury, authenticity, and genuine hospitality, the sort of place that stays with you after you leave. We can't recommend it enough and hope to return.

Luc Binh restaurant served delicious food, especially the Vietnamese dishes, and breakfast by the river was lovely. My room was spotless and spacious, with thoughtful details, and the riverside greenery made the whole place feel calm. Getting there by the little boat was part of the escape, even though Ho Chi Minh City is only minutes away. Triet, my Villa Host, kept checking in and made everything easy. Thao handled our dietary needs, and Diego (Resort Manager) and the rest of the team were so welcoming. I left feeling refreshed. A beautiful place for some peace and privacy, and I’d love to come back.

The issue for me was how a basic question was handled. I asked about family members visiting without staying overnight and was told it was “not permitted… under any circumstances.” When I raised how rigid that wording sounded, the staff member didn’t clarify or acknowledge my feedback. The conversation simply ended in silence. This is about communication and accountability. A policy can exist, but guests still deserve to be spoken to with respect and some nuance, especially when comfort is part of the service. The interaction left me concerned about staff communication skills and how feedback is handled. I’m asking the Management Team to review the conversation, look again at staff training, and provide an official response on how this will be addressed. I hope to hear back in a way that reflects the standards An Lâm aims to uphold.
