Anh Duy Hotel

My room was clean enough, with fresh, stain-free sheets and towels, and a clean bathroom. It wasn’t new, though, and had some wear, dated furniture, and marks on the wall by the AC. There’s a kettle and fridge, the basics. Staff were friendly enough and let me leave my bags until check-in. Laundry was really pricey at 50k/kg, so I used a place two minutes away that charged 25k. I’d been paying 20-30k elsewhere in Vietnam. The location is fantastic and central, and it’s a basic place with great value for money. I booked on Agoda and worried after reading the reviews here, but I needn’t have. Don’t expect luxury at this price. Nearby bars make some noise at night, though it didn’t bother me. If you just need a simple base in a great spot, I’d recommend it.

Roaches were on the bed, shampoo, my makeup, and clothes. Now I have to disinfect everything, and I still can’t feel clean. I’m scared to open the bathroom or turn on the light in case there’s one on my pillow. I was shaking and crying while trying to find another hotel, and couldn’t concentrate on my work today. I feel like this place left me with anxiety and PTSD. I want to set myself on fire just to feel clean. Please avoid it like the plague. The whole building is infested. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Vietnam and never seen cockroaches like this. For the same price or less, you can find a much cleaner room without them.

The room was a dingy little place with baby cockroaches, broken AC, a torn bathmat, and a sink handle that came off when I opened it. I arrived late in the morning, and the man at reception did nothing to help with my luggage or change the room, even after I said it wasn’t what I’d seen and booked on booking.com. The next morning, when he was fully awake and alert, he said he’d change the room. I told him I was leaving because it wasn’t worth staying. There was no apology or remorse. The booking.com review seemed fair, but the room was not. They should investigate places like this before listing them, because it makes me question the site’s credibility.

The room I booked wasn’t the one they offered. It was old, dirty, damp, deteriorated, and full of rats and roaches. The place’s rating on the app is completely false. They’re scammers, it’s a roach nest. I had to run out and find somewhere else, so I need my money back. I asked for a refund and they refused. I contacted booking.com and am still waiting.
