Asian Ruby Center Point Hotel

I came back after a very positive stay a few years ago, but the drop in quality was shocking. What used to be a highlight of my trips is now somewhere I wouldn’t recommend. The facilities felt old and worn, the room and equipment seemed poorly maintained for years, and the lack of cleanliness put me off. The staff attitude and service have also lost the warmth and professionalism I remembered. It felt like they no longer cared about guests. The worst part was the massage. Afterwards, I was given a survey that felt like a shakedown, with forced tip amounts tied to the rating. It made me feel guilty for not choosing a high tip, like psychological pressure. I left stressed instead of relaxed. I’d avoid this place until they change these dishonest business practices.

Our family of three had a confirmed booking at the Asian Ruby Center Hotel, but it was cancelled at 5 p.m. while our 4:30 p.m. flight was still in the air. We landed at 7:30, got out of the airport around 8, and reached the hotel between 8:30 and 9. They told us, rudely and dismissively, that the booking had been cancelled “hours ago.” There was no apology, help, or responsibility taken. One staff member grabbed our luggage and hurried us out, leaving us on the sidewalk at night with nowhere to stay. My dad had to search desperately for another hotel for the next two nights. It was incredibly stressful and unfair. We did find a great hotel across the road, which made the difference in how guests were treated even clearer. Cancelling while we were travelling and throwing a family out like that was unacceptable. This was one of our worst hotel experiences, and I’d warn people away.

Our booking was nearly cancelled without a reason, but we were able to respond on booking before our flight. Otherwise, it would have been cancelled. During the stay, the room and bathroom were generally dirty, and we noticed cockroaches in the bathroom. There was used hand soap, a used razor, and used shower gel there too, which is completely unacceptable. The floor was dirty. The bed looked clean, but the blanket had no cover and had small mould spots. The whole room smelled unpleasant, maybe of mould, cigarette smoke, or something similar. Reception staff were only just acceptable, not especially friendly. The hygiene and cleanliness were far below what we expected, and we wouldn’t recommend staying here.

After a 24-hour flight, I reached the hotel at 1:30 a.m. in January, exhausted and hoping to sleep. They told me they hadn’t held the room I booked and offered another one. I accepted, thinking it would be comparable. They asked me to pay the full four-night cost upfront, but I didn’t have enough cash, so I left a 1,000,000 VND deposit to pay the rest later. The room was clearly unsuitable: the floor, bathroom, and walls looked dirty, and the humidity made it hard to breathe. Within ten minutes, I knew I couldn’t stay. I went back to the desk, explained, and asked to cancel and get my deposit back. They wouldn’t refund it and charged me for a full night despite my not staying there. I had to pay about 60,000 VND more to cover the charge, and they refused to return any of my money when I tried to negotiate. I understand they may not have kept my original room because I hadn’t prepaid, but the room they gave me was dirty, uncomfortable, and not suitable for a guest. Charging me for a night I couldn’t stay was unfair and unreasonable. I was extremely disappointed and won’t return.
