Bach Suites Saigon, a Member of Design Hotels

The design is great, and although the property was smaller than I expected at first, they've fitted everything in nicely. Breakfast was excellent, and the route to the breakfast hall is unusual. It rained during my stay, so I got wet on the way there, which was an experience. The gym was my biggest problem. It was much smaller than the pictures on the Bonvoy application suggested, with limited equipment and space, so I couldn't get a proper workout. A proper gym is a priority for me when choosing a place, and the inaccurate app pictures need fixing as soon as possible. The shower also had weak water pressure, perhaps because the property doesn't have a proper pump for the units. Noise from nearby clubs was almost overwhelming. With that level of disturbance, I'd expect soundproofing like at airport hotels, including acoustic glass. The stay was okay, but improvements are needed to meet Marriott standards.

The restaurant staff were awesome, all of them, and they were very accommodating at breakfast with my son. Breakfast was good, and the hotel itself is nice and very pleasing to look at. The rooms were good too. Check-in was a problem. I'd called ahead about getting our room early and paying for that option. When I called after landing, the front desk wouldn't even check whether it was available or ask my name. We ended up getting another hotel near the airport. At this hotel, they then asked me to pay for the room, even though it had already been paid for with my points, and said the hotel wasn't part of Marriott. After checkout, someone else, perhaps the manager, was more informative. The two women from the day before were still there and seemed clueless. I forgot the restaurant staff's names, but they were great.

The breakfast was pretty average and had very few choices. There are plenty of good, cheap places to eat in HCM, so I'd go out instead. The room was a bit small, with an awkward layout and shape. A big gap in the curtain meant daylight came in early and woke us up. We were on the 9th floor, with the gym above us, and around 7 someone would run on the treadmill. The pounding went on for over 30 minutes and was quite annoying.

We had a wonderful stay at Bach Suites. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and clean. We also really enjoyed breakfast at The Palm restaurant. We'll definitely stay here again next time we're in Saigon!
