Classy Indochine - The Riverside

They had sold out of rooms but left sales open, so my booking was accepted with no warning. I only found out when I arrived. I waited outside for nearly an hour while they tried to book me into another property of a lower grade. They offered VND100,000 as service recovery if I agreed to move, which struck me as ridiculous. They also gave my personal phone number to the other property without my permission. What happened to personal confidentiality? I don't usually post online reviews, but they said they'd accept any review, so I took up their challenge. I think people should be alerted and consider this before booking here.

The room is spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom facilities are clean. The self-serve kitchen has most utensils. Getting in alone can be tricky, since check-in means entering a code through a narrow slit in the gate.

This was a terrible place. There was literally no staff, and the rooms looked nothing like the photos. Dirt and dust seemed to be everywhere, the paint was flaking off the walls, and there were cobwebs all over. It felt more like a low-class hostel than a hotel. I don't know which rooms the people who rated it well stayed in. The rooms were empty and didn't feel cozy like the pictures online suggested. Do not book this place!

The room was good, the area great, and the value pretty decent. The communication was the one real problem. She replied quickly, but didn't understand what I meant and acted as if she did. I don't think she meant any harm or was a bad person, but her communication skills were very limited.
