Happy Life Grand Hotel & Sky Bar

The breakfast buffet was delicious and amazing. At the desk, Trixie and Krixi handled my reservation quickly and easily, while Jade was professional and helpful with getting me checked into a room. Jason the Bellman moved my luggage quickly and professionally. Everyone was friendly, including the staff who met my taxi and promptly took my bags. Making the reservation with the concierge was easy. Highly recommend staying at the happy life grand Hotel.

My room was on the ground floor, clean, cool, and had all the amenities, including a kettle, hair dryer, and large TV. Although there was AC, I didn’t need to use it. The bathroom was a good size, with a walk-in shower. The location was good too, only a 5-10 minute walk to walking street. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be back.

The location made it easy to explore, with shops, restaurants, and bars just a short walk away. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with plenty of tasty options, and check-in was easy and pleasant. Jade deserves special thanks for her warmth and kindness. She helped us with excursions and directions, and brought us tea several times. We felt welcome and looked after throughout our stay at the Happy Life Hotel, and we’re very grateful for the hospitality.

The room itself was comfortable, with good bedding, a nice bathroom, effective air conditioning and a window that opened on the sixth floor. They also let us check in several hours early, and the staff were friendly. We tried breakfast once and liked it. The location was great, too. The practical details were less good. The minibar had very little choice, the tea and coffee setup was disappointing, and there weren’t enough sockets in useful places. We had to put the kettle on the floor under the desk. The phone charging socket was loose, sparked when touched, and wouldn’t hold the plug. The shower spilled over the bath and left big puddles, so it really needs a screen instead of a curtain. The rooftop pool and bar could have been a real draw, but the bar felt uninviting, with only stools and no comfortable seats. The drink selection was limited, and the voucher rules were so restrictive they seemed designed to get you to buy more. The complimentary cocktail was one per couple, the same every night, and not good. We only went once. We didn’t use the pool because we were out and about, though I noticed there were just three sunbeds for an 85-room hotel. At checkout, they asked us to wait two or three minutes while they checked the room. I’ve never had that happen in 62 years of travel, and it made us feel like criminals, especially since they already had our passport and credit card details. We had a nice stay, but with so many hotels to choose from, I’m unlikely to return.
