Liberty 2 Hotel

The staff were very friendly, and checkout time was flexible when guests requested it. The location was perfect for getting a Grab taxi, and the room was clean and hygienic. Receptionists spoke moderate English, while the rest of the staff couldn’t. Room rates for long stays can be negotiated. At breakfast, it would help to label meals as beef, pork, or chicken, since some guests avoid pork, and the chef could arrange beef or pork-free menus depending on the guest. There’s no lunch or dinner, so guests have to go out each evening. The shower towels are wearing out, and the bedroom needs tissues. Management should upgrade from a local standard to an international chain standard. I also noted “Lacking bellows” on my list.

The hotel feels like it’s from the 70s and has never been updated. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, and this morning there was a cockroach and a rat in the breakfast room. Staff did nothing about complaints. We booked five nights but left after four, and they didn’t even ask why we were leaving early. We’re spending the last night at Majestic, which is much better.

The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was good, the staff were super friendly, and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It’s an easy ten-minute walk to Saigon Square and six minutes to Ben Thant. I would have given it a five, but the shower was hard to enjoy: the nozzle was small and the water lukewarm instead of a steady stream of hot water. Maybe we just got a lousy shower. Still, it’s worth looking into.

The buffet breakfast was authentically Vietnamese, with plenty of western options too. The staff were so helpful, and the hotel is clean, friendly, and in an excellent location. It doesn’t claim to be a five-star hotel. We loved our stay here. We’re from Australia.
