Minh Tam Hotel and Spa

The gentleman who carried our luggage was extremely nice and deserves 5 stars. The location is decent for the airport, though there’s nothing around the area. I should say, this doesn’t feel like a hotel, but a massage parlour with rooms. Even our grab driver told us that as soon as he picked us up. We paid 750K for a room with 3 beds, but on arrival got only 2 because the room with 3 was “locked.” At checkout, the front desk lady blamed us for taking towels, so we had to go upstairs ourselves to show her the 3 towels. One of our rooms smelled really weird, maybe from poor air circulation. Almost 1.2M VND for two rooms felt very overpriced for the room quality and service.

Everything was glassy clean, from the hall and elevator to the room. The room was spacious, and the bathroom, AC and door all worked. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. When the neighbors in nearby rooms played loud music, I called reception and the problem was resolved. The hotel is on a main street, so a big van can stop or pick us up easily. There’s a huge, crowded market nearby with delicious fresh fruit and Vietnamese food, and several restaurant options within a 5-10 minute walk. Just be careful crossing the street. Booking online is simple on a phone. We stayed one night in Hochiminh city before our flight and didn’t regret choosing this place. It’s a good place to spend the night and explore the city.

The staff were really friendly and tried to deal with all my comments and questions. When I got back from my overnight trip at 2:00 am and asked them to redo the cleaning or change the bed linens, they sent a cleaning lady to my room right away and it was done quickly. They even tried to help with questions unrelated to my accommodation. The hotel is reasonably close to the airport and the price is fair for a two-star place. In my view, it could pass for a three-star hotel too. The rooms aren’t especially nice or beautiful, and sometimes I’d expect better cleanliness. Still, given the location, helpful staff and price, I’m happy to come back here to sleep. If you want luxury or beautiful rooms, perhaps choose somewhere else.

I only stayed one night. The room was nice, and the staff were helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast came to the room, and the airport was about a 10-minute drive away. The bed was really uncomfortable for me, though, and the shower setup was awkward: just a wall-mounted shower head, with the drain across the room and no shower recess.
