The balcony was a highlight for me, with pretty views of the surrounding area. Inside, my room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with a big comfortable bed, effective quiet AC, and a large fridge for cold drinks. Ngoc Loan Hotel is in a quiet part of HCMC, about four kilometers from District 1. The couple who own it are polite and lovely, and their service made me feel welcome. I came away thoroughly satisfied: the comfort, room to spread out, and hospitality all exceeded what I expected. :-) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The walls have plaster coming off, and the Wi-Fi is extremely slow. The rooms do get cleaned, but the reception staff seemed pretty unfriendly.

They entered our room without asking or letting us know, then switched off the AC even though we’d specifically asked them not to because of the Vietnam heat. When I challenged them, the excuse was that leaving it on would cause a fire. On the second day, the woman left it on but set it to 27 degrees, saying it would catch fire if she didn’t. That sounded like a pathetic way to save money. Such a cheap-minded approach from the hosts!

My room was really clean. The staff can speak a little English, and they know how to use Google Translate when you have a more specific question. There’s lots of street food nearby, plus a 24/7 shop and a supermarket. I’d recommend it.

The receptionist was nice, and for this kind of place the price seems fair. It’s a little far out, though not so far that it’s a big problem.
