Oscar Saigon Hotel

My family keeps coming back to this Oscar hotel on Nguyen Hue Avenue in Ben Nghe Ward (District 1). The location works so well for us, and every worker has been top notch. Things have been consistent each time.

The only real plus is the location. The rooms are okay, and breakfast is ordinary, nothing special. Service was the worst part: they ignored our requests and did whatever they wanted. We checked out early on our last day, and the packed breakfast was pathetic. They wouldn’t provide a chicken or vegetarian sandwich instead of pork, so our request fell on deaf ears again. We’d also asked to get breakfast on the first day instead of the last, and that wasn’t honored either. All in all, not a good stay. I’d skip this place.

I was disappointed that reception gave priority to a bigger group and ignored a guest who’d already been waiting for an hour. If I hadn’t paid in advance, I would have looked for somewhere else with more respectful service.

We spent a lot here as a family, renting 10 rooms for one week and 8 the next, and the experience was awful. During my second visit, loud karaoke went on in the room they gave me until 10 pm. When we asked to move, the other room smelled so moldy it made me ill right away, so I chose the noise. At 8 am I woke to sanding across the hall. The AC was pouring water everywhere, so I can guess why they were repairing things. Then they began varnishing and staining wood in a room with no window across from mine. The fumes were so strong I had to leave my room. They made me wait four hours for another room, so my luggage had to stay in a family’s room. The receptionist said we could rent the room for half a day the next day to shower and get ready before checkout. But the next day, new staff said they knew nothing about that and would only rent it to us for double the price. Hours before my international flight, I was packing again and moving to another hotel. The rooms are subpar at best, and with that noise from a party inside the building, the horrible smell, and the service, I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone.
