Saigon Fantastic Hostel

We left our bags and went out for a short walk, then suddenly got a message saying our reservation had been cancelled for no reason. There was no warning or explanation, and we were left without accommodation. The place was also very dirty, and the street smelled awful. From the moment we arrived, the night receptionist was rude and disrespectful, as if he was annoyed we had come to “his” hostel. We tried speaking calmly, but he wouldn’t engage and kept saying he knew nothing, even though he worked there. Completely unhelpful and unprofessional. I strongly do NOT recommend this hostel. Avoid it.

I was in a mixed dorm that seemed to have been made by switching what was basically a men’s dorm into a mixed one. The upper bunks had no curtains, so there was no privacy, and people came into the room late to eat, leaving it smelly. There was a toilet in the room for men, but no toilet for women.

The dorm wasn’t secure, since anyone could walk in from the street, and the toilet setup was weird. There are so many better hostels in Saigon. The receptionist was the rudest woman ever. She forgot to do the three basic things handled at check-in, then harassed me and woke me up by touching me while I was asleep in my bunk to follow up on what she’d forgotten. She seemed like she was on her first day at work, though I think she was just a very angry woman.

The owner and her crew were so friendly and sweet. They even let me keep my cake in their home fridge overnight. It’s a great hostel for the price, with a convenient location near lots of shops and streets. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are really comfortable. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone travelling through Ho Chi Minh.
