SAZI Ben Thanh Hotel

The location was handy, close to food and shopping. The room, though, was run down, with mold on the walls and shower walls and stains on the bedsheets. Hot water kept cutting out, so I ended up taking cold showers in the middle of the night.

It was easy to find halal food nearby, and the hotel is close to ben thanh. The evening shift service, though, was poor. When I booked, I entered the actual number of guests for each room, including the children and their ages, and agoda charged the actual price. At the hotel, the receptionist asked for another 2,250,000 VND for three people, adults and children, at 750,000 VND per person. I showed that my reservation already listed everyone, but the receptionist ignored it and said the family room was only for four guests. The next day I checked with agoda, and they also said the correct price had already been charged and there shouldn’t have been an extra fee. I asked agoda to contact the hotel and request my money back. The morning receptionist had already told me the family room actually fits six people, so there was no need for the extra charge. Still, the evening receptionist wanted 750,000 VND per person and refunded only for two guests, 1,500,000 VND. Thank you, Mr.Hat, for clarifying things and helping me fight for my right.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a family room that was so spacious, on Malaysian street, with halal food and shopping close by. Ben Thant market is only 100m away.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to women travelling alone. My room had no peephole and couldn’t be locked from the inside. Sewage flies came from the toilet and covered my bed, the toilet ceiling and sink area were moldy, and my bedsheets were stained. It’s overrated on Agoda :(
