Tago Airport Hotel

It’s a five-minute drive to the airport, which made the stay very convenient. Some of the main attractions are a little farther away, but getting to them is easy.

The location is very handy for an early flight or late arrival, right by Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminals 1 and 2. The rooms are clean and well finished, and the hotel looks fresh, modern, and recently renovated. It’s in a typical narrow Ho Chi Minh City tube house, with stylish interiors. I liked the wall-mounted TV, though it sits only about half a meter above the floor. Watching from bed means your feet and toes are right in view, and reading the screen takes some contorting. The design seems to have won out over practicality. The main issue is the lack of a mini-fridge in the rooms. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels and can only recall one other without one, in Singapore. These days it feels like basic equipment. You can’t keep drinks cold or store snacks, and refrigerated medication is an even bigger concern. The hotel has a shared fridge in the ground-floor common area, but keeping potentially hundreds of euros’ worth of medication there with other people’s things doesn’t feel safe or reliable. The bed is also quite hard, like a thin mattress over a hard board, so it may affect your sleep if you prefer a softer one. Tago Airport Hotel is very clean, modern, and excellently located, and it works well for a short stay if you mainly need a new, clean room near the terminals. But the hard bed, awkward TV placement, and especially no mini-fridge make the experience weaker than the rest of the standard suggests. A few changes could make it a really good hotel. As it is, it feels halfway there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the area is local, with restaurants, pharmacies, and markets all within walking distance. It’s also very close to the airport. For the price, the hotel was good and breakfast was included. My room was a good size and clean, with Netflix, YouTube, and great air conditioning. The bed was a little hard for me, but fine for four nights. One night the fire alarm went off for several hours, which made sleeping very disturbing and inconvenient.

It’s about a 10-minute walk from Terminal 1, so it was really convenient for my domestic flight. The city is a little farther out, around 6-7 km. I’ve stayed in all the major cities in Vietnam, and this was the best hotel of them all. The room was bright, well designed, and super clean, and the staff were kind and very friendly. I’d stay here again if I come back to HCMC.
