The check-in was easy, and Kevin added me to his contacts right away. He answered my questions about the area and even refunded my friend’s booking when they couldn’t make it. The neighborhood feels safe and has lots of local restaurants and coffee shops. It’s far enough from Bui Vien walking street that noise isn’t an issue. The rooms are very clean and fairly priced. I’m extending my stay and will definitely come back.

I was happy with what I got for the price, and the room looked just like the photos, maybe better. I couldn’t find the hotel name at first, then realized it’s above the cafe. The place has a young, young-professional vibe, with a semi rooftop that has a great DJ and bar. You can walk to Bui Vien Walking street. I’ll stay here again.

The room was clean and the air conditioning worked, but I’d avoid this place. You can find better accommodation for a third of the price. There’s no reception, so expect endless messaging just to sort out basics like payment. We could have used the free laundry, if it’s actually available, but are you willing to go through even more WhatsApp back-and-forth to arrange it? Getting back late was a problem too. We were stuck outside the front door and, by the grace of God, eventually reached the guy for the PIN, which he hadn’t thought to mention. The bar downstairs blasts music from opening time, and you can hear it clearly in the rooms, so forget sleeping in. The photos are fake too. The “city view” is a roof, there’s no bath in the bathroom, and you shower right over the toilet. The water stays cold. The good Booking.com reviews are probably from his friends, since every review is in Vietnamese no matter where the guests are from. A scam.

The location is 10/10, close to everything on a lively street. There’s a morning market, lots of little stalls, restaurants, and an awesome spa that stays open late. If you enjoy 24-hour activity, check out the area, but it may not suit you if you have trouble sleeping. Still, you might want to stay somewhere else. The rooms didn’t really match the pictures, though they looked like what the rooms are trying to become when they grow up. The Wi-Fi was a nightmare, and the shower was always cold. The bar staff were the first and only people we saw there, and they couldn’t have seemed more indifferent, which is a mystery since the bar was always empty. On my last night, I came back to find a gigantic cockroach in my room. At least that was a hint of hospitality.

We were left scrambling for somewhere else to stay at the last minute because the manager wouldn’t pay for the airport transfer he had agreed to cover in advance. We’d booked a room for three adults, advertised with a double bed and an extra-large double bed. When we arrived, early check-in wasn’t available as promised. Once we could get in, there was only one double bed, with no space for the third person. The manager never showed up, and claimed we had made a booking mistake. I had proof, but it didn’t help. They then changed the Booking.com listing to show only two guests, apparently thinking we wouldn’t notice. There was no apology or compensation. This was a nightmare from start to finish at Tago Boutique. I wish I could give zero stars. Avoid it and save yourself the frustration and money.
