The security guy was always smiling and welcoming, and the front desk staff were helpful. I stayed here to be near family. The area is good for food and markets, and I enjoyed the freshly ground coffee nearby. It’s a cheap, basic no-frills hotel, best if you’re out all day and only come back to sleep. My room had a bed, washroom, and shower, but no hair dryer. There might be one at the front desk if you ask. I saw a few tiny ants, barely noticeable, which you find in hot countries. The shower stopped working a few times while I was using it, maybe because lots of people were showering at once. I had to turn it off and wait a few minutes. The water pressure varied too. The tap was wonky and sputtered water onto my clothes and face. At most, I’d call this a three-star hotel.

We left for another hotel after one night because this place was old and not very clean. We only stayed because it was close to family. I guess it’s okay if you’re looking for cheap accommodation.

I spent three weeks here on my last Vietnam vacation, and everything met my expectations. The staff were friendly, and the room was very clean and roomy. Vinh An, who I think is the hotel manager, can point you toward good places and food, so be sure to ask for him. Tan Cuu Long is close to well-known food streets in Districts 5 and 6, and about a 10-minute walk from Binh Tay market. If you want to stay near the famous food street and historic town in District 6, Saigon, I’d definitely come back on my next trip.
