The rooms were clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely good value.

The owner and her daughter were so warm and gracious, and they helped me find some lovely places to eat nearby. The lodging was comfortable too. I keep recommending this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable stay.

The female host was friendly, and my room was clean, maybe cleaner than other places I've stayed at this price. But the room itself is aging, with quite a few things starting to break or rust. The price feels average for that standard now, and other rooms at the same price or less may offer better value, especially since we took so many taxis to and from the city centre. I also wasn't comfortable with the security guard. He got too involved in other people's business and came across as semi-rude, like he was in charge. At least the room was clean, even if it had worn badly. I can sympathize with that, but I probably won't come back. The guard was the deciding factor.

I cancelled the booking, luckily Agoda let me do it for free. I'd called before check-in to ask which floor and room I'd get because places we've stayed before haven't always matched what was promised. They said they'd have to wait for the previous guest to check out at 12pm before they could tell me. A hotel or serviced apartment should have a proper management system in place, and this seemed to be lacking one. The man who answered the phone was rude to guests. It left me feeling you can't trust a direct hotel booking without a guarantee, and that all they want is your money.
