Uncle Ty's Farmstay

The host made us feel comfortable and welcome, and the food was amazing, definitely worth having. But security was a serious downside: there were no cameras, fence, or guard, and the receptionist wasn’t always at the desk. While we were asleep, someone got into the dorm room and stole most of our valuables, including phones and a camera, right beside our pillows. Keep a close eye on your belongings.

My family loved this farmstay. The children played with the dogs, chased goats, watched the buffalo return from the field, swam in the river, and tried to catch fish in the nearby pond. We had a big dinner on the first day, and the bed and food were good. It’s a lovely place with a lovely owner, especially if you like a peaceful home, chatting with locals, walking around, and taking life slowly.

The views of the Ba Vi mountain range and rice paddies are unforgettable, and the host was extremely friendly and loving. Dinner was generous, with six tasty dishes. The dogs, Gian, My and Ben, were a highlight. They’re caring and playful, and make you feel like their best friends. Come prepared with DEET, sunscreen, personal toiletries, and a swimsuit if you want to swim in the lake. The amenities are simple and may not suit someone expecting a fully equipped homestay or hostel, but they were good enough for us. It’s best for people who love nature and can leave busy city life behind.

The hosts were warm and respectful of our privacy, while still being available whenever needed. The handmade furniture adds to the charm, and the food was authentic and incredible, better than any restaurant we tried in Hanoi. Staying here will leave a lasting memory. It’s a chance to experience life the old way, with five-star farm accommodations.
