Chez Loan Hotel

The family room on the top floor was big and had a great view, and before we left they gave us free water and fruit. There were some frustrating details, though. The WiFi kept dropping, and hot water lasted only about three minutes. Most of the free bikes had problems like broken brakes or seats. Staff kept speaking to me in French, which may suit French-speaking guests, but I don't speak it. They'd offered us coffee while we waited for the room, then charged for it at checkout. That felt petty. A mixed stay, with some good parts and several things to improve.

The food was good, and we enjoyed breakfast with its fruit and savory choices. The friendly hotelier was happy to make eggs to order. Our room was on the top floor, very spacious, and looked out over the karsts behind the hotel and the river. We got moved to Chez Loan after a last-minute problem with the room at the hotel we'd originally booked, and it worked out just as well. We arrived in the early evening, cooled off in the pool, then had beef with fried rice and spring rolls at the hotel. The bars in Tam Coc are about a 10-minute walk away, and the area was lively. It was a really pleasant stay.

The pool was a lot of fun after we'd been riding for hours, and the location worked well, about five minutes by bicycle from town and near nature and sightseeing spots. We had a spacious, clean room with comfortable beds, and the people were friendly with superb service. The food was tasty too. We especially liked breakfast and the pizza at Lumiere. All positive for us, thanks so much!

It's a nice hotel for a couple of nights, but I wouldn't stay longer. At first it was hard to communicate with the manager because she doesn't speak much English. We eventually understood each other with Google Translate. The food was fine for filling up, though I'd suggest going into the city instead, where the food is much better quality and tastes good.
