Kinh Do Hotel

The worst part was the sleeper bus to Hue they sold us for 300,000VND. It was an old, smelly bus used only by local people, and nobody spoke English. The blankets were tiny and reused, and the one on my seat was still warm from the previous passenger, ugh. The seat belts were broken, and the AC was so strong we couldn't adjust it because it was broken too. The toilet smelled awful, and there were no toilet stops. My backpack was completely soaked in the luggage compartment. With no English speakers, there wasn't even a chance to complain. It may be cheap, but it was a total rip-off. The hotel itself had a strange feel. Even though it seemed mostly empty, I was put on the top floor next to the massage rooms. I tried to ask for a room on another floor, but the English was very limited and I was too tired to argue. The next day I waited in the patio for the bus they had sold me. The receptionist wouldn't let me wait in the lobby, saying they needed the space for new guests. I had to sit outside even though nobody came to check in while I was there. I am grateful to one worker who helped me get Wi-Fi up on the top floor where my room was.

My room was just $10 a night, and the food was good, though there are better restaurants around town. It's a great budget hotel. One of the managers speaks English and is very sweet and helpful.

The restaurant let me down. I ordered goat, a traditional dish in Ninh Binh, but it arrived cold and didn't taste good. The manager, though, was helpful with information and bus tickets, and let me take a shower at the end of the day after checkout.

The owner was a real man and gave me the best service, helping with everything. You can trust him. It's a great place to stay, and you can book a sightseeing trip around the outskirts of the city or to the national park. Be sure to try a massage too.
