The owner is the standout here. She does her best to communicate in English and treats guests like family. She’ll cook for you and help arrange tours, laundry, money exchange, or bus rides to other cities such as Hanoi. The neighborhood is quiet at night and has a small town feel. I walked around by myself one evening, and a group sitting on the street offered me tea. As of March 11th, 2025, Ninh Binh Central Hotel is listed as a 2-star hotel, but I can confidently say it’s more than that. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and have good sized showers. The big drawback is the cheap mattress, made of about five inches of very light foam, so there’s a good chance you’ll wake up sore. The pillows are light too and don’t offer much support.

Breakfast was good, and the room matched the photos and was clean. The owner was very kind, helping us arrange a transfer and rent motorbikes. There was an issue with the bikes, but she stayed nice about it and gave us a discount. One downside was the lack of a heater, which left the room damp and our clothes too. I also saw the cleaner at work and got the impression the sheets weren’t being changed.

Just a minute on foot from the train station, which was really handy. The woman at reception was lovely and suggested good places for our day in Ninh Binh. She arranged a motorcycle for a fair price, and the laundry service was pretty quick. The rooms were good too.

We picked this place so we could catch an early train, and it worked well for that. Our recently renovated first-floor room was very nice, and the bathroom looked stunning. There’s no lift, and while there’s a fridge, there isn’t a kettle; you can get boiling water downstairs. The room has no window to the outside, though you can see the reception area, and there is an outside-facing window in the bathroom. They made us a delicious egg and salad baguette early in the morning. The lady could be quite abrupt and raised her voice a lot at times, but she was really sweet when we left.

The view from the room was lovely, and I enjoyed staying here during my business trip. I didn’t have much time to make the most of the hotel, which was a shame. I’ll bring my mom here for a holiday next time. Definitely recommend it to travelers.
