Laluna Hoi An Riverside Hotel & Spa

We were made to feel at home by the hotel team, especially Mr. Chow, who were welcoming, kind, and attentive throughout. Breakfast had a good range of options, and being close to the Old Town made the location really convenient. Our room was clean and roomy, with a lovely balcony. Regular housekeeping added to the comfort, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The staff made everything easy, from heating food we brought in and finding vegetarian choices to collecting parcels and sharing local tips. The chef explained the vegetarian dishes at breakfast each day, which had a great mix of hot and cold options. They even tried to get us a river-facing room. With that kind of care, our stay was memorable. Our room at Laluna Riverside Hotel was spotless and spacious, with thoughtful decor, quality bathroom fittings, and a huge sparkling shower. The Victorian-style building has a lot of charm. There’s no lift, but taking the stairs gave us some exercise and a chance to enjoy the architecture. The pool was clean and inviting, and the atmosphere felt calm and welcoming. Hoi An was magical, especially at sunset, with the lanterns, music, food, and activity along the river. The hotel is only steps from the lively Hoi An riverfront, making it an excellent location.

The free bicycles were a real plus, and the location worked well: an easy walk to the old part of town, but far enough from the bustle, apart from the karaoke. I’d stay again, just with lower expectations. To me, it felt closer to a three star hotel than a four star one. I thought I’d booked a swimming pool view through booking.com, but apparently hadn’t, and they couldn’t change it. We had a balcony over the back street instead, where a party or bar had very loud karaoke until 22.00. The room was big and clean, though a little bare, with a good shower. Breakfast was okay, but the buffet food could’ve been hotter. The cooked eggs were very good. The pool was relaxing once the kitchen fan stopped.

The manager checked in with us each morning at breakfast to see how we were and hear our plans, and the staff gave us great suggestions for things to do and places to go. They have free bikes available for guests at any time. When they found out it was my husband’s birthday, they gave him a gift, then surprised him and the family with a cake and birthday song in the lobby. The hotel sits across from the Hoai River, where the lantern floats happen nightly. It’s a little away from the spot where people set the lanterns afloat, so we missed the crowds and noise but could still walk over to see the boats and lanterns. Since our flight wasn’t until 10PM, they let us use the spa showers on our last day, even though we hadn’t booked massages. We ended up getting massages there anyway and loved them. We’re now planning to return with the rest of the family.
