Lantern Riverside Hoi An

The owner fixed our sink plumbing problem quickly: after we told them, they hired a plumber and it was sorted in 45 minutes. The hot water can get too hot, so start with the cold and adjust gradually. There's no elevator, but the stairs are wide, level, stable, and well built. The family who run the place are very sweet, and the hostess speaks perfect English. It's clean and incredibly convenient, right in the middle of the night market. I'd strongly recommend this hotel or homestay to anyone visiting Hoi An.

I liked it so much that I added another night, and they even took care of my laundry. The owner was lovely, and my room felt surprisingly luxurious for the price, especially with its large balcony and plants. It’s set on a residential street, so it’s quieter than the nearby night market on the main street. The entrance is full of flowers and the lobby is clean and welcoming. I think there are three rooms with balconies, and I’d highly recommend one. Just keep in mind that neighbors can see into the room, so you’ll need to close the curtains for privacy.

The kind cleaning lady helped carry our heavy bags upstairs, since there’s no lift, and the laundry was quick and went well. Our room was spotless and lovely, with a big balcony full of plants. The location is great, beside the river and night markets, and only a two minute walk from the busy center. Breakfast was included, though you’ll want to ask the owner about it since it doesn’t seem to be a formal setup. One night at 10:30, the host family had a very loud argument. We heard shouting, the daughter crying, and someone stomping on the stairs and yelling right outside our door. It went on for quite a while and left us uncomfortable and upset. That’s really not okay late at night when guests are trying to relax or sleep, and I’ve never experienced anything like it in a hotel or homestay. Aside from that one incident, we had a good stay.

The front desk woman was so helpful and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. The place is right by the water, next to the night market, yet it stays quiet. The Old City is about a five minute walk away. I’d stay here again whenever I’m in Hoi An.
