Hue Ecolodge

Food is the main drawback of being outside Hue: you’re relying on the hotel unless you go into town. What we ate there was good, though pricier than other restaurants. The city sights are still easy to reach in 15-20 minutes by Grab or taxi. We got Grabs quickly, and staff can call a taxi too. The property has a couple dozen buildings, so it never felt crowded, even at peak times. Rooms were clean with the basics, and service was great. Breakfast had Vietnamese and Western choices. There were always bikes available, including sizes for people up to ~195cm. A major river flood happened a few months ago. You can still spot minor damage, like to banana trees, but it didn’t affect our stay. They’re clearly putting a lot of effort into upkeep.

A peaceful place to slow down and reconnect with nature. The room was really big and had all the comforts and amenities, and the price felt affordable for what was included. There’s a buffet breakfast, try the dragon fruit and beef soup, plus a swimming pool with a pool bar. We had a wonderful experience; everything felt perfect.

The best part was how quiet this old village is, with hardly any cars or bikes around. You can hear the birds and enjoy the Vietnamese countryside. On the cycling trip they took us past rice fields, little local shops, and small workshops making bronze artifacts. There are bicycles to rent, and they also offer foot baths, toilets, cooking classes, and more. The food was amazing too, including dishes made by a sweet old lady. One of the best days of our 20 day tour in Vietnam.

The food was really delicious, fresh, and natural. They use 100% fruit for juice rather than canned juice. Staff were friendly and helpful. There isn’t much entertainment nearby, so it’s ideal if you want to relax and take life slowly. They’re still recovering from a serious flood a couple weeks ago, and the room facilities aren’t perfect, but that’s understandable.
