Romance Hotel

After a long journey, it was such a relief to be met by staff who were so helpful. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well equipped, and the buffet breakfast was amazing. We also enjoyed the bar and pool. The staff noticed my birthday on my passport and surprised me with a complimentary cake. Thank you to everyone at the Romance Hotel. Five stars from me.

The room was huge, with a massive, comfortable bed, and it was very clean. The hotel is central, near the river and the lovely promenade gardens that stretch along it. The rooftop pool was nice and seemed popular, but breakfast next to it was chaotic. Both mornings, tour groups packed the room, and getting food meant squeezing past people. We left after some toast and butter; there was no chance to linger over coffee. The breakfast selection was standard Vietnamese fare. The lobby is enormous, with seating on either side and a lot of empty space in between, so it didn't feel good for relaxed chatting. Though the hotel is non-smoking, the corridors smelled strongly of tobacco. The bathroom was the biggest hassle. The taps and knobs for the handheld shower, overhead shower, and tub took getting used to, and the water pressure was so low that showering took ages. The tub sides are very high, which could be difficult for older guests or anyone with arthritis. A straightforward shower cubicle would be better and would avoid wasting so much water. We had a good stay overall, but the shower and breakfast issues took away from it.

The breakfast buffet was delicious, and our large, comfortable room had a really nice view. We only spent one night at Romance, but the staff made it a great experience. Everyone was lovely and helpful. Hue is underrated, in my opinion, and when we come back, we'd like to stay here again.

The massage at the spa was good, but I wouldn't stay here again. The hotel was clean, though the public areas had no air conditioning, so it was uncomfortable outside the room. Breakfast was okay, but the restaurant seemed to have little or no A/C, and the food looked sweaty and sad. The pool area was small and uninviting, with hardly any loungers, so we didn't use it.
