Muong Thanh Grand Ha Tinh Hotel

The food was delicious, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service was excellent. The staff at Muong Thanh Hotel were especially kind, supportive, and always ready to help. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

The staff were friendly, but I stayed here three days on separate occasions and the rooms smelled of odor and mold every time. The smell just wouldn’t go away. Breakfast looked like it had plenty, but there were only around 10-15 different items, with no cheese or olives, and it didn’t feel clean or comfortable. They also charged 10 dong for drinking water. It’s not about the amount, it’s the attitude, since water is complimentary everywhere else. There’s also a massage place that all the men seem to visit right away, but the conditions were dirty and smelly.

The hotel is more than 7 km from town, so it’s pretty remote. It might work for a night or two to recharge before continuing your trip, but some small room details could be better. The closet is too large for a short stay and takes space away from the minibar. The minibar barely cools because there isn’t enough room around it for heat to escape, and it made the area beside it hot. There are recycling bins inside and outside the bathroom, but the one inside has no bag even though bathroom rubbish is often wet. There’s no bathrobe or razor, and only one pillow per bed. I could have asked for another, but it was late and I was too tired to disturb anyone. The hallway and lobby have no air-conditioning, and the restaurant doesn’t have enough either. The pool was clean, but there’s no shade or umbrella even though it’s usually sunny and hot. The employees were all very nice and helpful, and I guess they’re doing their best while dealing with these conditions. I gave it three stars, then added one more for the Director, who seems to care and want to make things better.

The room was lovely, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the WiFi worked well. Dinner at the restaurant was good too, with a huge serving of pasta. It’s an upscale hotel and a nice one, though it sometimes feels empty because many guests are there for the steel factory. My only complaints: there was no hot water in the morning, and the two bottles of drinking water were tiny, about 250 ml each. I’d stay again.
