Coral Phu Quoc Hotel

The owner was extremely friendly, prices were very fair, and the little hotel felt clean and safe. There's lots to do around the area too.

I liked the room at first: it was spacious and bright, with plenty of natural light, a balcony for fresh air and a nice view, plus an electric kettle, mini fridge (frigobar), and air conditioning. The surroundings were quiet and private. There was free Wi-Fi, an elevator, and housekeeping, and several staff members seemed to be working there. The stay wasn't awful, but I wouldn't pick this hostel again, mainly because of how the staff made me feel. Only one person I dealt with was genuinely polite. The older woman and younger guy came across as indifferent and unwelcoming, as if helping me was a burden. When I asked politely for the Wi-Fi password, the woman seemed annoyed and answered coldly. She also got upset when I opened the windows on arrival to air the room before switching on the AC. I paid for housekeeping but avoided asking for it because I didn't want to feel like I was bothering anyone. When I asked for water, they gave me one small bottle, even though I'd booked one of the most expensive rooms, so I bought more at a nearby shop. The room also wasn't very clean when I arrived, especially under the bed and in the bathroom, but I didn't ask for cleaning because of the uncomfortable staff dynamic. If service isn't a priority and you're mainly after a budget-friendly place, it might still be decent. If you care about a welcoming atmosphere and professional service, I'd look elsewhere. I'm a foreigner and speak English and Spanish, so maybe a language barrier affected the way I was treated, but basic courtesy should still apply.

The hotel is very budget-friendly, and they rent motorbikes at a low price. The owners are a kind couple. The wife speaks English fluently, while the husband does his best to communicate. You can also buy your own food ingredients and cook in the kitchen.

The rooms were dirty, smelled bad, and had cockroaches and other bugs.
