Mai Chau Valley View Hotel

We found the hotel spacious and clean, with a huge, super comfortable bed. The owner was wonderful and helped us set up some fantastic day tours. It’s right on the main street, so everything’s convenient, but it also looks out over beautiful green rice fields, with a lovely bike trail through them nearby. Shuttles from other cities stop right at the hotel, which makes arrival easy. There’s also an excellent café in the same complex, with great ban mi. A great mix of comfort, views, personal service, and local atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I can’t speak to the hotel itself, but avoid their transport services. I booked through 12Go from Mai Chau to Tam Coc, and the driver was dangerously erratic, speeding, braking unpredictably, and nearly leaving the road several times. He drove so badly that the minibus broke down on the way, and it was pouring out noxious smoke that filled the bus with poisonous gases. I felt like I was being asphyxiated. We were supposed to arrive at 5.30pm but got there at 7.30pm. By then I was ill, lightheaded, and close to collapsing. I was trying to work out how to get medical help, but could barely stand or even go find food. I have no idea how much this has affected my health. The ride was dangerous.

The owners were so helpful, easy to communicate with, and really knowledgeable. They helped with all our plans, which made our time in Mai Chau exactly what we wanted. We rented their well-maintained bikes at a reasonable rate too. It’s a lovely family-owned hotel in an excellent location, and our room was clean and comfortable, with a great balcony and seating overlooking rice fields. The included breakfast was huge and delicious. Happy to recommend Mai Chau Valley View Hotel!

I’ve stayed at Mai Chau Valley View hotel many times over the past 15 years, and I think it’s the best bargain in the Mai chau area, with a view and location that are hard to beat. From the balcony in the early morning, watching workers in the rice fields is spectacular. The hosts are friendly, and breakfast is great because you can order what you want. Rooms are clean and have been upgraded, with an ice box and coffee and tea pot. It’s on the main street, just a few minutes’ walk from a nice local market. You can walk to nearby handicraft villages or use the excellent bikes from Mr. Duang. He can also arrange the shuttle to Ninh Binh/Tam Coc, which is very fast. Mai Chau has a lot to offer, and this is a great place to stay.
