Song Tien Annex Hotel

The local market is just around the corner, and it’s easy to catch boats to explore the islands. We also had a nice view over the Mekong from the shared balcony. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the location made it easy to explore the city.

The Mekong tour we booked through the hotel was excellent, and breakfast was a good Vietnamese one. I only stayed a night, so I can’t say whether the location is convenient for seeing the city, since I didn’t visit it. The place itself was average and very affordable, which isn’t a complaint.

You can walk about 200 meters to watch the action on the Mekong River, which was the one good thing about the location. The rooms were okay but rundown, and I couldn’t sleep: there was plumbing noise from rooms above, constant boat traffic on the busy waterway beside the hotel, and considerable street noise. The boats operate 24/7.

There’s a lovely river view from the hallway on the 5th floor, and parking a motorbike out front for the evening felt safe. The walls are thin, though, and our old door had gaps we had to patch with duct tape. Breakfast was disappointing. It was fine for an evening. Watch out for a man who will probably approach you when you arrive to sell boat tours, he can be a bit aggressive.
