D'Qua Hotel

We were only a few minutes' walk from the tourist trap, which suited us perfectly. Our executive suite was spacious and nicely presented, too. The staff were fantastic throughout. THƯ, LINH, HĀO, and the manager TÚ were helpful, polite, and always did their best to accommodate us. The hotel team went beyond what we expected.

The rooms are nice, but pricey. The family rooms are basically two rooms joined together, and I wasn't keen on that setup, especially at the cost. Service was only so-so. I often requested cleaning and then waited 3-4 hours. The staff also kept trying to speak Russian, which I didn't like. It would be the same if I spoke to them in Chinese. They asked for reviews a lot as well, which was also so-so. I'd say the 3-4 rating is deserved.

The staff were excellent, and Mr. Tu did his best to deal with the water not being hot enough for my shower. The gym was useful, although the route to it was very dark and smelled bad. The breakfast space is large, but there weren't as many choices as at other, cheaper hotels I've stayed in. Unfortunately, the pool was being maintained during my stay. For rooms on floors 5-11, you can use the regular elevator. If you're staying higher up, staff guide you to another elevator that seems to be shared with local apartment renters.

We chose the most expensive room for just one night, and the state of it was a shock. The walls and windows were dirty, the floors hadn't been cleaned, and nearly every surface, including the tables and nightstands, felt sticky and grimy. It was so unpleasant that we skipped breakfast. There were only two small 350 ml bottles of water for the two of us. That's shameful for a hotel presenting itself as 5-star.
