Victorian Nha Trang Hotel

For the price, we thought it was very good value. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included. Our room was spacious and clean, with a great bathroom. We also loved the rooftop pool, especially the city and sea views. Each time we went up, we had it to ourselves. Getting there was a pain, though. The address on Booking.com was wrong, even though Google had the right one. When our bus arrived at 4am, we spent about half an hour walking around the wrong streets before paying for a taxi. They also insist on keeping your passport as a deposit and won’t accept anything else.

That so-called private balcony was a joke. There wasn’t even room to put a chair on it properly. The listing made it sound like a nice room, but that wasn’t what we got. Breakfast wasn’t fresh either. The tomatoes smelled rotten, and the cucumbers seemed to be from the day before. Service was the biggest problem: the receptionists were rude, and asking for the room to be cleaned around 10am didn’t help. At 3:55pm it still hadn’t been done, and then they told us the cleaners finished at 4. There was so much miscommunication between reception and housekeeping. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The service was really bad and the staff had a bad attitude.

The room was clean and comfortable, and we had a fantastic view. Thi and Vuong were so helpful, and we really enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. Breakfast was superb too. We had a great stay, the hotel exceeded our expectations, and I’d highly recommend it.

We paid full price just to get our passports back after asking for a discount. They refused the discount and held on to our passports, which I believe is illegal. They blamed Booking.com for the problems, and that whole situation felt completely unreasonable for the room and service we got. When we asked to speak to a senior manager, the front office staff wouldn’t give us contact details. They said he couldn’t meet us, even though she hadn’t spoken with him herself. The room didn’t match the listing. Our “superior room” was pictured with a window, but the one we got had none, so there was no natural light or air. There were no plug sockets either. The shower was cold when we arrived, had no holder for the showerhead, and sprayed water all over the bathroom. I had to hold the showerhead to wash my hair. We were also woken at 6am by loud construction inside the hotel. The listings on Booking.com and Agoda promised a spa, two pools, a hot tub, and a sauna, but none of those were there, and there was only one pool. We asked for a discount the next morning because the room didn’t match what was advertised, but got nowhere. I believe Booking.com should investigate, since we didn’t get the value for the price we paid.
