THUY ANH HOTEL

We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it. We were here as part of a multi-day tour and didn’t know what to expect, but the staff were accommodating and pleasant, and spoke plenty of English. The room was clean, modern, and well stocked, and dinner downstairs was tasty. At roughly €20 a night, the price blows my mind. It’s well worth booking.

The rooms weren’t large, but there was enough space for two. The washrooms were clean and had basic things like a toothbrush, shower, and body gel. There wasn’t a hair dryer. The food was nice, with both local and English options. Staff were warm and quick with service, and kept asking us for feedback on each service. One thing to know is the menu differs for tour packages and direct bookings.

The staff were lovely, and they let me check in at 10am, which was great. My room was nice and clean, with a fan and air con. I didn’t try breakfast, though it looked very nice. They rent mopeds and bikes for getting to the scenic spots. The bike ride was great and the roads were pretty good, but you can find cheaper rentals elsewhere. The Guest House around the corner rents bicycles for 80,000 a day, half the price. Apart from that, a great choice for ninh binh.

We had dinner at the hotel’s very nice restaurant. Breakfast was included and ordered from the menu, and there are other places to eat nearby, including a Jolli Bee fast food restaurant at the next main corner and several restaurants along the side street one block to the left. The hotel called a taxi for the train station, since it’s too far to walk. There isn’t much of interest in town, so we hired a taxi for a few hours to visit the Krasts and the scenic spots around 10 km away. The hotel is in town, away from the tourist and backpacker area where most people seem to stay. It’s older, but had a great atmosphere and everything was fine. Our room was quiet and the shower was great.
