Duy An Guest House

The people here are delightful, and I've stayed several times over the years. It's a sweet little "guest house" across the street from the beach, with footpath access. Little bungalows sit on either side of a path through a pretty garden, which gives them an unusual amount of privacy. The rooms don't have windows, which seems odd, but somehow works really well. There's a comfortable open-air lounge for chatting, writing or whatever, and the wifi is good. Prices are low compared with nearby beachfront hotels.

If you have money or valuables, avoid this guesthouse. It seems easy for things to be stolen. The owners first assured me it was safe and that they had cameras, but after the incident they wouldn't show me anything. Don't expect help resolving the problem either. They sent me to the police and said things that made no sense.

I was there for just one night. It's clean, though not modern. When I arrived there was no help desk, just an older woman I took to be the person who cleaned the guest house. She didn't speak English, but she was very nice and helpful, and we managed to communicate with gestures.

The place is clean, and the staff are friendly. It’s near the beach, though not right on the seafront. Breakfast is simple, just bread with different jams, plus tea or coffee sachets.
