Hon Rom Sunlight Resort

The beach was among the dirtiest I've ever seen, covered with paper, glasses, plates, and all kinds of rubbish. The hotel had fenced off access and charged an outrageous fee just to get onto the sand. I expected a better kept area, and found it absolutely disgusting. This was the only scam I encountered in Vietnam, and it happened at this hotel. It felt like the most shameless way to grab money. Don't waste your time or money coming here.

We waited half an hour for someone to take our order, even though we were the only people in the restaurant. The staff didn't seem to care, so we left without eating. Wouldn't recommend.

We ended up leaving early and found better places in Mui Ne. There are many other options near Mui Ne beach, and I'd choose somewhere else. Our first impression was the unfriendly reception, especially Thu Le. We booked through Agoda for a pool or ocean view, but were told on arrival that our room wouldn't have the pool view unless we paid extra. We had chosen the hotel specifically for an ocean view, so we were disappointed. The staff didn't help, and there were no smiles, just lots of rules. We worked it out with Agoda and paid the upgrade for the ocean view, but check-in dragged on while they checked everyone's passports and visas, still without a smile. The rooms need updating and the beds are hard. There are no smart TVs, and housekeeping knocked at 8 am. Renting a pool float for the kids costs 50k, and most of the depressing stack of floats had leaks. Balls and other toys cost extra too. Construction noise from saws and welding continued the whole time. There was nowhere to sit by the pool and watch the kids, since the beach chairs face the ocean and can't be moved over. The pool is only open 7-7, so no evening swim even though it's lit up. The lifeguard stared and kept telling us what we couldn't do. The pool left our hair crunchy, and even good shampoo didn't fix the children's crispy hair. There was a sewage smell that seemed to be leaking from the resort into the sea, and plenty of rubbish on the beach. We also saw a rat by the kitchen, and, of course, cockroaches at night. Thu Le was so unfriendly and seemed very poorly suited to customer service. It takes a lot to make her smile. Between all the rules and the smell, it wasn't relaxing.

The beachside location gave us great views and a relaxed atmosphere. The resort was cozy, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We also really enjoyed the delicious food at the restaurant. I had an incredible stay at Honrom Central Beach Resort and would recommend it to anyone wanting a memorable vacation. 🌅🏖️🍴🌴
