Melon Resort Mui Ne

The restaurant was a real highlight, with a very good Korean and Vietnamese menu, and the pool is beautiful. The rooms are excellent too. The resort itself is lovely, though the beach isn’t very close and isn’t a good spot to visit in the afternoon. Some of the pool tiles need repairing.

The pool beside the villas is beautiful and has a nice view. Our ocean-view villa was spacious, with a comfortable bed, balcony, and a great outlook. It was quiet at night, so we slept well. Getting to the villa means walking up a steep hill in the heat, though it wasn’t terrible. The hotel isn’t on the shore, so the walk down to the sea takes about 10 minutes. Its private beach is just a few chairs behind fishing boats and nets, and the area was dirty, unattended, and surrounded by trash. The rest of the beach is occupied by private resorts. Staff were very kind and tried using a translator, but they spoke almost no English, which made communication difficult.

I booked through hotels.com and got an instant confirmation, but when I arrived, nobody was there and the hotel wasn’t operating. The owners were still taking bookings without providing the service, which ruined my holiday. I ended up staying across the road at Victoria Resort, and that hotel was great.

Some of the staff weren’t very friendly. On Monday morning, only four customers were having breakfast, but it took half an hour to get the eggs and toast I paid for. Breakfast was supposed to be a buffet included in the stay, but there was no buffet that morning. Would I recommend this place? No. Will we stay here again? Absolutely not. My advice is to remember they’re only nice until they get your money, then you see their real attitude.
