Maxhome Luxury Hotel

We booked a month ahead for three nights over the long weekend because the booking site's ratings looked decent. If I'd known where the room was, I never would have picked this hotel. It was right beside reception, with no number on the door and no working key or TV. The shower had no wall mount, the room had no decorations, and someone else's lunch was in the fridge. Rusty screws stuck out of the drawers. It didn't feel like a usable hotel room at all. Sleep was impossible. From 6 a.m., bus groups gathered in the lobby just feet from our door, and it was so loud it felt like we were sleeping outside. We planned to leave after the first night, but were told we could switch rooms for the last night. Since we'd already paid and weren't going to spend much time in the room, we decided to stay. In the morning, though, no room had been set aside for us, and they said we'd have to remain where we were. I couldn't do another night there, so we left and checked into a different hotel. It was the worst hotel experience I've had. That room shouldn't be rented, and the booking site should clearly explain what it is. Holiday or not, the place shouldn't have those ratings if this is what guests can be given.

I asked in the evening what it would cost to extend my stay through the next day. The receptionist quoted the same price, reserved the room, and asked me to pay in the morning. When I came to pay, she had raised it by almost 100,000 VND. I left for another hotel. There are plenty of places that don't lie about their prices or try to make you pay more. Avoid this place and its deceptive business practices. Scam alert.

The staff were polite and understanding, and they let me cancel without a penalty. That was the one good part of my stay. The hotel was disappointing and looked nothing like its Booking photos. The building is extremely old and outdated. I booked one room type but was given a lower-class room without any explanation. It was in terrible condition, smelled strongly musty, and had a lot of mold. The elevator was in awful shape too. Read the reviews carefully before booking.

You get what you pay for. The staff are friendly and the location is good, with the beach just a two-minute walk away and loads of great restaurants nearby. The pool is large for Vietnam and has a nice view. I only found out after checking in that there was no restaurant or breakfast. Still, friendly staff and a good spot.
