Ngoc Bich Bungalow

The owners are friendly, and the grounds are pretty and private. The pool is great and surprisingly quiet, while the ocean view is small but lovely, with lounge chairs where you can watch the sunrise. Rooms and bathrooms are large. Unfortunately, the rooms need renovation. The tubs are old and stained, the grout looks yellow and dirty, and there was mold on the bathroom tiles that wiped off easily but suggested poor housekeeping. Rooms aren't cleaned daily unless you ask, which you shouldn't have to do. We ran out of toilet paper, shampoo packets, bottled water, and towels. They brought more when asked, but seemed annoyed. The towels were old with bleach marks, and our sheets were stained. Maybe they were clean with old stains, but who knows? Erosion has also made the beach behind the hotel unusable. The steps are gone, and reaching the water means climbing over sandbags. Restaurant food was tasteless and needed more seasoning. I want this family to do well, but after living in Vietnam for several years, I've learned that people don't seem to understand the value of spending money to make money. If they renovated and refreshed each bungalow, they could charge more per night. Instead, the lower price seems to be doing the work of selling rooms that aren't very clean or nice.
