Sunrise Village Hotel

The boss insisted I must have lost my jacket somewhere outside the room, but I’m sure I left it on a chair after housekeeping came in. They have a spare key and entered without my permission. It was my first time wearing that new jacket, and it was also the last time I saw it. I’m convinced there’s a thief at the resort. If you stay here, don’t leave anything in your room unless it’s locked in your luggage.

We paid $150 CAD for four nights through agoda, but on arrival the place looked like an old Miami motel. The sheets were stained, some lights didn’t work, the wallpaper was coming off, and there was no way to control the A/C. I gave two stars because the owner agreed right away to cancel our booking when we asked, and didn’t charge us anything. Just don’t expect the place to look like the photos.

We checked in at 2 a.m. and the staff still gave us a warm welcome, even though they were asleep. The woman on staff spoke a little English. The place was clean, everyone was friendly, and breakfast was freshly made from the menu.

There’s a food court nearby with good options for dinner. The bed felt a little damp, and the shower drain was broken. The staff don’t speak much English, but they kept trying their best to give us information whenever we asked.
