Diep Le Homestay

We stayed for a few nights and would definitely recommend this welcoming family homestay. The owner and her children are very kind. She even offered me a shower in her own bathroom after I’d checked out. The owner cooks the food herself, and the restaurant is good and cheap. Its river view is beautiful, and the location is great, with restaurants and bars within walking distance. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The owner helped us book a motorbike and a cave tour, without being pushy.

A great base for exploring Phong Nha. The place is run by lovely people who were friendly and accommodating. I had a mountain view room, which was a nice treat, with a comfy bed, a good shower, and an amazing view to wake up to. I really enjoyed my stay.

They don’t speak much English, but they make an effort to understand. The family was very nice. When I had a problem with the hotel I’d booked, they came to pick me up after midnight. They charged for it, but they did come. My room was clean, with a beautiful mountain view. Since I had to catch a bus at 9 pm, they let me take a shower before leaving. The morning coffee was lovely, and the terrace by the river was relaxing with a great view. It’s an easy walk to the main street.

The room was plain and nothing special. At 600 per night it wasn’t expensive, but at least some things in the room should work. The fridge was broken, there was no hot water in the bathroom in 14-degree weather, and no kettle or anything to help keep warm. No heater is understandable for the price, but the wooden house felt really cold. The owner sent his son, who looked about 10-12, to help turn on the AC heater. The kid didn’t know what to do and called his father, who told him to come help with the AC heater but didn’t show up for a couple of hours. When we asked the boy, he said his father had told him the AC heater didn’t work. If they’d told us that from the start, we could have considered changing hotels or doing something else instead of waiting. His wife and son were friendly, but they need to fix the rooms and take better care of them. 600 for a room without breakfast.
