Freebeach Resort

This rustic place by the beach has more character than a 5 star resort. The rooms are comfortable and quirky, and the staff, especially Ms Phuong, are lovely. The beach bar and restaurant are beautifully located and very reasonably priced. Breakfast by the sea is wonderful, with a good but simple choice. The sunbeds and deck chairs are quite worn, but they're free for residents. It's well placed for the bustle of Dong Duong. We came back twice and would return.

The location is central, with restaurants and shopping centers within walking distance. But the photos were deceiving. We chose Free Beach Resort because of its advertised pictures and central location, expecting a decent place to stay by the beach. The room smelled moldy, and the sheets were damp from the humidity, making it absolutely uncomfortable to sleep. During our nine-day stay, the bedding wasn't changed until the fourth day. The bathroom was filthy: the shower frame was rusty, and the clogged drain made water overflow as soon as we turned it on. We told the front desk, but nothing was fixed. The caulking around the sink was worn out, and water dripped all over. People smoked on the front porches and even in the restaurant, and the pungent cigarette smell was nauseating. Breakfast was quite poor, too. It was our first and last time at Free Beach Resort. What an unpleasant stay!

At first glance, the resort might seem nice, but paying attention to the details showed us how neglected and unsafe it felt. Nothing seemed properly cleaned or maintained. On arrival, the reception area was dusty, dirty, and completely disorganized, setting a bad tone for the rest of the place. Our first room was on the third floor above reception, extremely dirty and poorly maintained. From the balcony we saw abandoned, ruined structures and trash everywhere, and the surroundings looked unhealthy and unsafe. We contacted Booking.com right away. They reached out to the property, but we couldn't find another place on short notice, so we had no choice but to stay. For the last three nights we were moved to a slightly better room, though it was still very dirty and far from acceptable. Breakfast was terrible, poor quality and badly presented, and the beach area was completely neglected, with no care or maintenance. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was honestly the worst place I've stayed in Vietnam, and I want future guests to know what to expect or avoid it. I regret this stay and can't recommend the resort to anyone. I'm attaching photos so people can see the actual condition.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room was dirty and poorly maintained, the beds and towels were unclean, and the hygiene was extremely disappointing. Basic things like a mirror and toiletries were missing, and the plug points didn't work. There’s no room service, and after 10 PM nobody is at reception. If something goes wrong, there’s no one to help unless you go to reception yourself. Drinking water also isn’t free when you stay more than one night. We saw towels drying by the roadside in the lane to the hotel, which felt very unhygienic, and the lane itself seemed shady and unsafe. The stay was uncomfortable and not worth the money.
