CHILL HOUSE by the beach

We had a sea-facing room and could watch the sunset straight from there, though the water wasn’t clean enough for swimming. The fishy smell lasted from morning until late evening, so we couldn’t open the door, but could look out through the glass. At night it eased a little, and we could open the glass and sit outside. The room and bathroom were clean. You need a bike to get anywhere, and Grab took 15-20 minutes to arrive.

The host pointed us to Midori restaurant nearby, and they brought a really good pizza right to the house. Fresh toppings, a crisp thin crust, and it was still warm. One of the best pizzas we had in Vietnam, and just right after a lazy swim at sunset. Chill House by the Beach is a short walk from peaceful Ông Lang beach, with a cozy, welcoming feel that suits the name. We loved our stay and would happily come back.

The reception girls were so sweet and helpful, and I really loved them. There was unlimited drinking water, and the sunset was lovely. Still, the room had a very hard bed, and the old aircon basically had only on and off settings, since changing them didn’t work. The old TV didn’t have Netflix either. The toilet flush failed about half the time, so I had to lift the lid and adjust it manually. On my first night, some locals partied on the concrete area right outside my room, so it wasn’t much of a chill. My lovely receptionist tried to stop them, but I felt bad because they were drinking a lot and might have been unpredictable. The property is in a local village, with nowhere to walk to, and Grab bikes don’t come there. I was disappointed by the sea view. There were people and boats around, and maybe I expected too much from the photos. The concrete area was only 1 meter from my terrace, so I couldn’t open the curtains without someone looking in. People used it to get into the water, and there was rubbish floating around, including plastic bags, beer cans, and even gloves. I know that isn’t the hotel’s fault, but seeing that disrespect for otherwise beautiful water ruined sitting on the terrace for me. The staff, though, were great.
